This page documents Antibirth's changes to Rebirth's content and its expansions.

Characters[edit | edit source]

The Lost[edit | edit source]

Eden[edit | edit source]

  • Eden no longer has variable luck (at least in as reported in missing hud). Instead, Eden always has their luck set to zero. Because of how Rebirth handles Eden luck, being revived as a different character doesn't change luck, even if the character was Eden.

Lazarus[edit | edit source]

  • Lazarus received tweaked hair sprites.

Costumes[edit | edit source]

Dark Judas[edit | edit source]

  • Most costumes now have unique Dark Judas variants, improving how the character looks when many collectibles have been obtained.

Red Alts[edit | edit source]

  • Most costumes with an alternate appearance for when the character has been turned red now have an improved color palette.†

Pickups[edit | edit source]

Black hearts[edit | edit source]

  • Black hearts have a different sound when picked up.†
  • Bigbook animation has been replaced with a screen shake and black particles that fall from the room's walls.
  • Monsters disappear in a black smoke.

Bombs[edit | edit source]

  • Bombs' detonation time is slightly increased.
  • Fuse now has a lit appearance, and emits a small amount of light.

Items[edit | edit source]

D12[edit | edit source]

  • D12 is featured as a new item, without the need for Afterbirth.
    • Antibirth's D12 has the same effect as Afterbirth's D12 merely by chance, both developers came up with the same idea independent of each other.
  • D12 has a new sprite.
  • D100 activates D12 as well.

Other items[edit | edit source]

  • Many Screen Pop-ups such as boir:Whore of Babylon and boir:The Bible are now much faster than they were before.
  • Book of Belial has a new animation.
  • Poop created by E Coli is not axis-aligned, but is now similar to a normal poop.†
  • Picking up The Mind will have it display its own unique mini-map icon instead of all three map types.

Sacrifice room[edit | edit source]

  • Sacrifice Rooms now have an alternate backdrop with blood on the floor and walls.

Mechanics[edit | edit source]

Devil Deals[edit | edit source]

  • Taking a 2 heart devil deal while you have one red heart container will cause your character to lose all health.
  • Running out of red heart containers to spend will cause all other devil deals to turn into soul heart devil deals, like in Afterbirth.
  • Soul heart devil deals are sometimes offered without having any red heart containers, like in flash TBoI.

UI[edit | edit source]

  • Beggars have unique mini-map icons.
  • A new icon is displayed below the mini-map indicating any curses that are active on the floor.

Other Changes[edit | edit source]

  • The lighting engine has been improved.
  • Tear sprites have been adjusted to be more circular instead of polygonal.
  • Isaac has a revamped animation for when using the beam of light leading to the Cathedral.†

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • Many of these changes were added officially to the game as part of Afterbirth†'s Booster Pack #5.
    • These have been denoted with a cross† symbol.
  • More of these changes may also be added officially to the game as part of the upcoming Repentance DLC, however these will not be noted as the DLC has not been released yet and things may change before release.
